About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare revenue and expense accruals, vendor accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, goodwill amortization, rebates, cash reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, term debt interest and principal accounting, elimination journal entries, and other monthly accounting tasks
- Perform general account, vendor, and business analysis substantiation while maintaining accurate records and procedures
- Support Financial Planning and Analysis initiatives by capturing business activity and reporting and analyzing financial performance against budgets and forecasts
- Assist the Financial Planning and Analysis team in preparing budgets and forecasts
- Participate in annual audits and tax preparation by providing substantiation documentation and reconciliations to public accounting teams
- Maintain a calendar of state and city tax filings and comply with franchise tax, business tax, and other tax authority requirements
- Research internal and external customer inquiries regarding monthly performance of business units
- Protect confidential information and represent Redwood Logistics’ interests
- Adapt to internal policy changes and perform other duties as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting
- CPA preferred
- 4-5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant and/or Auditor
- Knowledge of financial reporting standards, financial reporting controls and process improvement
- Experience using Great Planes Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, MS Excel & MS Access
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
- Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology systems to optimize accounting and reporting processes
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish; proficient level for verbal and written communication
