About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Architect and build the core design automation platform that turns floor plans into manufacturing-ready building designs
- Build programmatic checks validating models against dimensional, code, and manufacturing constraints, with rule-based failure explanations
- Build agentic workflows, tool-using agents, MCP servers, and retrieval over design and product data
- Develop evaluations and guardrails for model outputs against physical, code, and manufacturing constraints
- Write deterministic, well-tested code generating geometry, parts lists, and manufacturing data from designs
- Build the visualization layer for designers, customers, and factory personnel to verify designs
- Deploy and operate software in the cloud using containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability
- Collaborate with Architecture, Design Engineering, DFMA, and Factory Operations, including learning processes on the factory floor
- Improve engineering practices, tooling, and developer experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field is preferred; equivalent experience is welcome
- 5+ years building production software, with Python as a primary language
- Experience shipping cloud-native software, including containers, managed services, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD
- Strong interest in agentic systems, demonstrated through work or side projects such as MCP servers, RAG pipelines, LangGraph or similar frameworks, tool-calling agents, and LLM evals
- Comfort with geometry, linear algebra, graphs, or optimization
- Comfortable moving between backend, data, infrastructure, and some frontend
- Experience setting technical direction for a system or team
- Track record of mentoring engineers and raising engineering practices
- Ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining quality and accountability
- Clear written and verbal communication and a hands-on, "no fences" approach to collaboration
- Able to work on-site in Billerica, MA at least 2 days a week
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship
