About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide operational leadership, direction, and support to assigned development programs and/or portfolios
  • Drive cross-functional development teams and Strategic Program Teams
  • Develop strategic plans including goals, budgets, and timelines
  • Monitor execution of development plans from preclinical through commercialization and lifecycle management
  • Lead key governance meetings for development teams and sub-teams
  • Align integrated project/program plans, timelines, and budgets with program vision
  • Ensure efficient delivery of plans
  • Propose and align annual program goals with program strategy and corporate goals
  • Monitor progress against program goals and provide accurate, timely reporting to management
  • Anticipate program issues and risks and drive risk management plans and issue resolution
  • Identify industry risks, threats, and opportunities and translate them into actionable activities
  • Drive decision-making and desired outcomes in a cross-functional matrix environment
  • Promote open communication, transparency, accountability, and learning from mistakes
  • Analyze problems and develop viable long-term solutions
  • Implement lessons learned and best practices across programs, therapeutic areas, and the department
  • Strengthen teams and drive high performance and efficiency
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues
  • Manage direct reports
  • Work with collaborators and contribute to departmental initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 12+ years of relevant broad project/program management experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels internal and external to the company
  • Ability to understand and motivate others and build effective teams
  • Strong presentation and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to promote constructive interactions among team members
  • Ability to resolve and negotiate conflicts or problems with tact, diplomacy, and composure
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced entrepreneurial organizations
  • Expertise in dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Proficiency in project management planning systems and tools, including MS Project and SharePoint
