About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and independently support global design, implementation, and maintenance of private and public network infrastructure
  • Provide guidance and expertise to management and users on network strategy and best practices
  • Lead and coordinate maintenance and upgrades of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems
  • Monitor network connectivity and ensure high-quality data transmission
  • Provide technical support for LAN/MAN/WAN and cloud-based networks
  • Liaise with vendors and third-party providers
  • Lead design of public and private LAN/MAN/WAN networks, including infrastructure placement and specification
  • Coordinate network installation with network engineers, vendors, and third-party providers
  • Lead capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and disaster recovery testing
  • Provide regular status, operational, incident, and change reports
  • Supervise or manage up to four employees and be responsible for team performance
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Solve complex problems and develop new perspectives on existing solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent required
  • 8+ years enterprise networking experience
  • Advanced expertise with network routing, switching, virtual private networks, wireless, WAN acceleration, protocol analysis, and Internet protocols
  • CCIE obtained or in progress preferred
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to liaise across operational, functional, and technical disciplines
  • Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate business needs into viable solutions
  • Ability to adapt to new methods and work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Ability to work within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously
  • Advanced customer relationship management and change management skills
  • Advanced negotiating and persuasion skills
  • Advanced network cabling design and maintenance skills
  • Advanced expertise configuring, installing, and maintaining VoIP telephony
  • Advanced skills using networking testing and design tools
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts and data center layout
  • Advanced expertise in cloud networking
  • Advanced knowledge of firewall systems, DMZ, and network security design
  • Advanced knowledge of Unix and Unix-based security systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco routing, switching and wireless, VoIP/TDM, and Aruba wireless preferred
  • 10+ years enterprise networking experience and advanced software-defined networking experience preferred
