About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce and sell new insurance accounts within assigned accounts
- Research the market and develop business to promote and sell insurance services
- Maintain and service a profitable book of insurance business for existing clients
- Achieve annual new revenue objectives through consultative sales
- Expand service lines for existing clients
- Demonstrate thought leadership and industry engagement through associations and speaking panels
- Develop an annual individual sales plan with a 5X pipeline coverage ratio or company-aligned metric
- Build an active pipeline of qualified prospects through contacts, referrals, campaigns, colleagues and marketing sources
- Document new business activity and won/lost opportunities in Relation’s sales tracking system
- Develop and present client recommendations using a consultative selling approach
- Assess risk issues, client needs and difficult-to-insure exposures
- Recommend and assist with loss control and claims advocacy services
- Transition sold clients to the designated client service/account management team
- Build strategic relationships with key client decision makers
- Communicate market trends, competitor analysis and business intelligence to leadership
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Property and Casualty Insurance License is required and must be maintained
- College degree or minimum 2 years’ sales experience in the insurance industry is preferred
- Experience working with complex commercial coverage
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- In-depth understanding of insurance markets, products and usages
- Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Computer literacy and ability to learn new software applications
