About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver, set up, maintain, and evaluate specialized respiratory and other equipment
  • Provide telehealth and onsite instruction to patients and caregivers on equipment use and respiratory care procedures
  • Conduct virtual and onsite patient follow-ups
  • Prepare and maintain patient records, care plans, prescriptions, and follow-up documentation
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding treatment, medical condition, and plans of care
  • Participate in ongoing education, mandatory in-services, and other training
  • Interview and examine patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Monitor physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs
  • Educate patients on oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, and other respiratory equipment
  • Perform and assist with listed respiratory equipment and therapies, including PAP/BPAP systems, oxygen equipment, suction, cough systems, and pediatric equipment
  • Perform testing and preventive maintenance on respiratory equipment in patients’ residences
  • Instruct patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff on equipment use and cleaning requirements
  • Serve as liaison between patients and healthcare team members
  • Consult physicians to develop treatment plans
  • Deliver and pick up equipment and supplies at patients’ homes
  • Contact physicians and healthcare team members regarding orders, complications, and recommendations
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and patient information under company policies and HIPAA standards
  • Complete patient files and paperwork
  • Participate in regular on-call rotation, answer calls within 15 minutes or less, and respond physically to emergencies within the assigned service area
  • No direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and not require work authorization from us now or in the future
  • Valid and current driver’s license from the state of residence
  • At least 3 years verifiable driving experience
  • No more than 2 moving violations or at-fault accidents within the past 3 years
  • No disqualifying motor-vehicle misdemeanor convictions within the past 3 years and no felony convictions
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)-accredited respiratory therapy degree program with an associate degree (AS, AAS) or bachelor’s degree (BS)
  • Currently licensed and in good standing with the Licensure Board of Registration of the state of practice
  • Must possess RRT, RCP, or CRTT credentials
  • Effective professional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Professional computer experience, especially Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently, investigate, and make decisions
  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work amid interruptions
  • Ability to comply with internal and industry-imposed guidelines
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
