About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and maintain Python services integrating and managing external applications, engines, and infrastructure inside Foundry
  • Develop manifest schemas and validation, catalogs and versioning, installation/upgrade/removal lifecycles, configuration and secrets handling, health reporting, and REST APIs for the Foundry UI and CLI
  • Define the integration contract for external engines to plug into Foundry’s IAM, metadata layer, and UI
  • Drive the first external-engine integrations
  • Own deployment packaging including Helm charts, operators, and offline bundles
  • Keep the platform installable, upgradable, and supportable across Kubernetes distributions, cloud providers, sovereign clouds, and air-gapped environments
  • Integrate Foundry with OIDC/SAML identity providers, object storage, container registries, ingress and network policy, and GPU scheduling
  • Own CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and multi-environment integration-test matrices
  • Instrument the platform and installed apps with metrics, logs, and traces
  • Write runbooks for operating and supporting production deployments
  • Turn prototypes and one-off integrations into stable, documented, versioned services and tooling

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years in platform, infrastructure, or backend engineering
  • At least 2 years shipping and operating production workloads on Kubernetes
  • 3+ years writing production Python
  • Experience owning backend services end to end, including API design, data models, testing, and packaging
  • Experience building and maintaining REST APIs in FastAPI, Django REST Framework, or similar, including versioning, authentication, and input validation with Pydantic or equivalent
  • Experience with SQLAlchemy, Alembic, or equivalent on PostgreSQL, and schema design
  • Comfortable with async Python, structured logging, Pytest, type hints, and linters
  • Experience interacting programmatically with Kubernetes and cloud APIs from Python, such as Kubernetes client or Boto3
  • Deep hands-on experience with Helm and Kubernetes packaging
  • Experience deploying software into on-premises, private-cloud, restricted-network, or air-gapped environments
  • Experience with AWS EKS, ECR, RDS, S3, and Secrets Manager
  • Experience integrating enterprise identity using OIDC, OAuth2, or SAML
  • Experience managing secrets and configuration in production
  • Solid understanding of Docker, image building and hardening, and container registries
  • Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab CI or GitHub Actions
  • Product-oriented mindset able to turn R&D scripts or prototypes into stable, usable services
  • Preferred: Kubernetes operators/controllers, GitOps tooling, plugin or app-store systems, Python packages or CLIs, GPU workloads on Kubernetes, LLM serving tools, observability tooling, ML orchestration tooling, Go, and open-source infrastructure contributions
