About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Administration, operation, and further development of the Sophos XGS firewall infrastructure, including high-availability (HA) operation
Design, implementation, and maintenance of firewall rule sets, NAT, web filtering, and application control policies
Operation and expansion of site-to-site and remote-access VPNs (IPsec, SSL VPN/ZTNA)
Configuration and optimization of IPS, TLS inspection, sandboxing (zero-day protection), and Synchronized Security
Administration, operation, and further development of the entire network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, WAN) across multiple locations
Configuration, administration, and monitoring of HP Aruba switches, access points, and Aruba Central
Management of VLANs, routing, switching, DHCP, and DNS, as well as operation of existing Huawei and Ubiquiti components until their planned replacement
Support for consolidating the network landscape into a standardized Aruba environment, including planning and implementing migrations, site connections, and network expansions
Optimization of network performance, segmentation, and WLAN coverage
Monitoring, log analysis, and reporting (Sophos Central, Syslog/SIEM integration), as well as firmware/software updates and patch management for all network and firewall systems
Analysis and resolution of network and security incidents within 2nd- and 3rd-level support, as well as participation in handling security incidents
Creation and maintenance of network and firewall documentation (topologies, IP addressing concepts, configuration baselines)

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed IT training (e.g., IT specialist for systems integration), a degree, or comparable practical experience
Several years of experience in network operations and firewall administration, ideally with Sophos XGS/SFOS
Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, VPN technologies)
Practical experience with HP Aruba (switching and/or WLAN, ideally Aruba Central)
Experience with Sophos Central and, ideally, Synchronized Security / Intercept X
Knowledge of IT security standards and segmentation concepts is an advantage
Ideally, experience with Huawei and/or Ubiquiti products, as well as network migrations and vendor consolidation
