About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform hemodialysis treatments and deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care
  • Provide specialized registered nursing care in accordance with state law
  • Assess patients and recognize changes during dialysis, adjusting therapy and responding to emergencies
  • Notify nephrologists when necessary and seek clinical direction
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using a team approach
  • Assume primary nurse responsibilities as directed
  • Communicate significant information among the head nurse, staff, patients, families, physicians, nephrologists, technicians, and dietitians
  • Complete accurate treatment documentation, paperwork, dialysis logs, laboratory reports, and set-ups
  • Verify treatment orders and administer medications as ordered
  • Obtain laboratory specimens and perform routine tests
  • Perform unit operations including set-up, reuse, trash removal, water checks, opening and closing, bath mixing, machine and station cleaning, and bath distribution
  • Delegate responsibilities and assume Charge Nurse functions when needed
  • Educate patients about their disease and treatment
  • Follow infection-control policies and participate in CPR as needed
  • Participate in Quality Assurance, QAPI, IDT committees, performance-improvement projects, continuing education, and in-service programs
  • Assist with staff orientation and maintain professional competence
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information
  • Maintain a clean environment, check company email weekly, and perform other assigned duties
  • Report to the Unit Leader

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
  • Current RN License for California
  • Current CPR certification, or certification obtained within three months of hire
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
  • One year of Hemodialysis RN experience required; two to three years preferred
  • Experience must be within the past two years
  • Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
  • Comprehensive background check required after an offer
  • Ability to work in a hospital or medical unit of a post-acute or correctional facility
  • Ability to work full schedule, ranging from five to fifteen hours per day based on unit requirements
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to continually stand and frequently bend, walk, twist, crouch, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures
