About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner closely with the Governor and Executive Leadership Team to support leadership effectiveness and strategic priorities
  • Promote coordination, alignment and collaboration across Te Pūtea Matua
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement priorities across Ministers, government agencies, regulated entities, industry leaders, international partners and other key stakeholders
  • Help design and establish the future operating model and ways of working for the Governor's Office
  • Support executive decision-making through strategic advice, analysis, briefing and planning
  • Oversee and strengthen executive governance processes
  • Coordinate actions and strategic commitments through to completion
  • Monitor organisational delivery against strategic priorities and identify risks, opportunities and interdependencies
  • Lead or coordinate enterprise-wide initiatives, reviews and strategic projects on behalf of the Governor and ELT

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Substantial experience operating at executive, board, ministerial or equivalent senior decision-making level
  • Experience advising and supporting chief executives, governors, ministers, boards or other senior leaders
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand's public sector, machinery of government, regulatory environment and stakeholder landscape
  • Established relationships and credibility across relevant New Zealand public sector, business community and political networks
  • Strong record of influencing outcomes across organisational boundaries and senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading complex strategic initiatives, organisational change or cross-functional programmes
  • Exceptional judgement, discretion and political awareness
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori
  • Must hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, the appropriate level of New Zealand National Security Clearance
  • Cover letter required
