About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, engage, and win new pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients for medical communications services
- Build relationships with Heads, VPs, Directors, and other senior stakeholders in Medical Affairs and Medical Information
- Develop new business opportunities through targeted outreach, industry relationships, networking, and in-person meetings
- Manage the full business development cycle from prospecting and discovery through proposals, negotiation, and closing
- Understand client needs and position specialized medical and scientific communications solutions
- Represent the organization at relevant pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical communications industry events
- Generate new client acquisition across U.S. pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets
- Work remotely from a home office while attending field-based client meetings, networking, and industry events
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of business development experience, preferably within a medical communications, healthcare communications, scientific communications, or closely related life sciences agency
- Demonstrated success personally generating and closing new B2B business with pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies
- Direct experience engaging senior stakeholders in Medical Affairs and/or Medical Information
- Strong understanding of how pharmaceutical and biotech companies work with external medical communications agency partners
- Experience developing new accounts
- Excellent consultative selling, relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills
- Self-directed, commercially minded approach and ability to work effectively in a remote environment
- Must currently reside in California
- Willingness to travel within California and elsewhere in the U.S. as business needs require
- Reliable computer, high-speed internet, webcam, headset, and professional workspace required

- Background check required for shortlisted candidates
- Agency-side business development experience required; pharmaceutical product sales, brand management, commercial marketing, or selling unrelated services alone does not meet requirements
