About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and execute diverse engineering projects from proposal development through successful completion
- Manage and oversee projects to ensure delivery within agreed schedules and budgets
- Prepare and manage Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents
- Develop drilling cost and schedule estimates and coordinate with service providers
- Provide drilling engineering consulting for exploratory drilling, solution-mining, geothermal wells, and disposal wells
- Develop detailed well designs and drilling plans
- Develop drilling programs including casing, tubular, mud systems, cementing, and testing programs
- Supervise operations
- Monitor safety and compliance
- Collaborate with RESPEC engineers and client personnel on well designs and drilling programs
- Support energy and mineral extraction projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of science degree in petroleum, geological, or mining engineering
- Minimum of 15 years of drilling engineering experience, including casing design, drilling fluids, testing, and well design
- Strong technical background in well design and drilling program development and execution
- Prior experience in AFE preparation, cost tracking, financial accountability, and procurement services
- Strong client relationships and ability to support business development efforts
- Minimum of 5 years of geothermal drilling program design experience, including casing design, drilling fluids, testing, and geothermal well design preferred
- Familiarity with well delivery processes
- Experience with risk assessment and management
- Completions engineering and design would be an asset
- Experience with schedule generation, cost and schedule tracking, sub-contractor management, and client interfacing and relationship building
- Professional license or ability to achieve professional license
- Must possess a driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
- EGS drilling experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, project management, and technical communication skills
- Must be fluent in English
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to real-world applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to prioritize work demands, meet deadlines, exercise judgment, and work independently
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires sitting for extended periods at a workstation or desk
- Capable of frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, lifting, and repetitive use of hands while on site
- Must use appropriate personal protective equipment based on the job task
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time
