About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process medical claims submitted to insurance companies and other entities for payment
  • Submit medical claims to insurance companies on a timely basis
  • Follow up with payers to validate hospital or physician status forms during adjudication
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frames
  • Call insurance companies regarding payments and denials, check claim status, and obtain EOBs
  • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurance providers
  • Answer patient and insurance company telephone inquiries for assigned accounts
  • Balance new work and follow-up accounts within the workload

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Prior experience with insurance claims preferred but not required
  • Prior experience in an administrative or clerical office role preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in an office setting
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience
  • Ability to work with a high volume of accounts
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving abilities
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and in writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology preferred but not required
  • Private, distraction-free home working environment
  • Secure internet connection with download speeds above 20 Mbps and upload speeds above 10 Mbps
  • Workspace accommodating all provided workstation equipment
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • Successful employment history verification and background check
