About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide program oversight and administer EHS policies, procedures, and best management practices
  • Ensure compliance with the RGNext contract, OSHA, NFPA 70E, ANSI, AR 385-10, and Department of Army Safety Program requirements
  • Coordinate with project departments on project-specific EHS compliance and safe work planning and execution
  • Provide technical assistance to engineering, technical facilities, range instrumentation, range safety, and mission operations teams
  • Advise customers, project teams, and contractors/subcontractors on occupational health and safety requirements affecting design, schedule, and cost
  • Advise leadership and employees of EHS noncompliance
  • Stop work in imminent danger or adverse health and environmental impact situations
  • Recommend and ensure implementation of acceptable work practices
  • Manage, develop, deliver, and track internal and contracted training programs
  • Deliver EHS training including safety orientation, fall prevention, confined space, respiratory protection, facility inspections, JHA, MEWP, crane and rigging, and safety leadership
  • Provide tower climber rescue, electrical safety/LOTO, and OSHA Construction or General Industry training
  • Assess work activities and processes and develop Job Hazard Analyses and risk assessments
  • Manage tracking and reporting requirements and develop project-specific mitigation actions
  • Support occupational medical programs
  • Conduct occupational health and safety assessments and surveys
  • Support construction and heavy equipment operations, including cranes, forklifts, and MEWPs
  • Support asbestos, lead, and PCB operations
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations
  • Develop reports and maintain EHS program databases
  • Conduct facility safety inspections and corrective action tracking
  • Support Hazardous Materials, Waste and Petroleum Products activities
  • Review subcontractor work scopes for EHS requirements
  • Support environmental program operations as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline, or experience in lieu of education
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant occupational health and safety experience
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems and master unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively
  • Possess and/or obtain and maintain instructor qualification in hazard communications / exposure assessment training, OSHA General Industry/Construction standards, and electrical safety/LOTO (NFPA 70E)
  • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, rules and regulations
  • Proficiency in applying occupational health and safety standards to programs and projects
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Professional principles of conduct and leadership/team building skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted and handle awkward loads
  • Ability to travel by boat, helicopter, or plane to remote sites with limited facilities
  • Work activities on outer islands required
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must be able to relocate to United States Army Garrison - Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
  • Flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or weekends
  • Profession certification such as CIH, CSP, CHMM, or OHST desired
  • Knowledge of US Army AR 385-10 and OSHA Maritime safety standards desired
