About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide program oversight and administer EHS policies, procedures, and best management practices
- Apply requirements from the RGNext contract, EHS Program, OSHA, and Department of Army Safety Program
- Coordinate with project departments regarding project-specific EHS compliance and safe work planning and execution
- Advise customers, project teams, and contractors/subcontractors on occupational health and safety requirements affecting design, schedule, and cost
- Advise leadership and employees of EHS noncompliance
- Stop work in imminent-danger or adverse health and environmental-impact situations
- Recommend acceptable work practices and ensure implementation
- Manage or assist with internal and contracted training programs, including development, delivery, and tracking
- Deliver or assist with EHS training such as safety orientation, fall prevention, confined space, respiratory protection, facility inspections, JHA, MEWP, crane and rigging, and safety leadership
- Provide tower climber rescue, electrical safety/LOTO, and OSHA Construction or General Industry training
- Assess work activities and processes; develop Job Hazard Analyses and perform risk assessments
- Manage tracking and reporting requirements and develop mitigation plans for project leadership
- Provide support for occupational medical programs
- Conduct occupational health and safety assessments and surveys
- Support construction and heavy equipment operations
- Support asbestos, lead, and PCB operations
- Participate in accident and incident investigations
- Develop reports and maintain EHS program databases
- Conduct facility safety inspections and corrective-action tracking
- Support Hazardous Materials, Waste and Petroleum Products activities
- Review subcontractor work scopes for EHS requirements
- Provide support for environmental program operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline, or experience in lieu of education
- Eight (8) or more years of relevant occupational health and safety experience
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to solve complex problems and master unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively
- Possess and/or obtain and maintain instructor qualification in hazard communications / exposure assessment training, OSHA General Industry/Construction standards, and electrical safety/LOTO (NFPA 70E)
- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, rules and regulations and proficiency in applying them to programs and projects
- Self-starter with decision-making capability and ability to work independently
- Professional principles of conduct and application of leadership/team building skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted and handle awkward loads
- Ability to travel by boat, helicopter, or plane to remote sites with limited facilities
- Work activities on outer islands is required
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
- Must be able to relocate to United States Army Garrison - Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
- Flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or weekends for project or mission requirements
- Profession certification such as CIH, CSP, CHMM, or OHST is desired
- Knowledge of US Army AR 385-10 and OSHA Maritime safety standards is desired
