About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build, configure, and maintain robust, high-availability integration workflows using the Mirth Connect interface engine
  • Write clean, efficient JavaScript scripts within Mirth to handle complex data transformations, filtering, and custom routing logic
  • Query, update, and manage relational databases using SQL to validate data integrity and track interface performance metrics
  • Design and map interface payloads utilizing HL7 (v2/v3) messaging standards and emerging FHIR APIs
  • Lead remote end-to-end testing cycles with hospital IT personnel, validating interface configurations in test environments before driving them to production
  • Serve as the technical point of contact to troubleshoot and resolve advanced interface dropouts, database connection issues, or transmission failures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working in Healthcare IT with a focus on EHR system integrations
  • Proven, practical experience developing and managing channels within the Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect) integration engine
  • Proficiency in JavaScript for writing custom transformers, filters, and scripts within an integration environment
  • Deep understanding of HL7 messaging structures and interface protocols (TCP/IP, LLP, SFTP, VPN)
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, managing multiple hospital deployment timelines effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Health Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Solid experience writing SQL queries and managing relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Prior experience working with cardiac device clinics, electrophysiology data, or remote medical device monitoring workflows
  • Professional certifications in HL7/FHIR or vendor-specific EHR badges (e.g., Epic Bridges)
