About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Program, set up, and operate a variety of machine tools and milling machines to machine metallic work pieces
  • Maintain throughput of milling machines and equipment maintenance
  • Create and write CNC programs using CAM computer and/or CNC machine programming language
  • Set up and run CNC machines
  • Complete paperwork to maintain records and department standards
  • Read complex blueprints and/or job orders for dimensions and tolerances
  • Read tooling instructions, including fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, and depth of cut, and determine operation sequences
  • Select tools and position and secure tool holders
  • Design and make moderate fixtures and holding devices
  • Set up fixturing
  • Observe machine operation and verify work pieces conform to specifications
  • Study specifications, blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials and machines required
  • Compute dimensions, plan layouts, and determine methods and sequences of operations
  • Ensure desired quality levels and labor efficiency for personally manufactured parts and those produced by lower-level machinists and operators
  • Flex between different areas or responsibilities based on production needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6-10 years in CAM and CNC programming
  • Experience setting up CNC lathes and mills a must
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Good vision for inspecting work and preparing programs/drawings on computer
  • Must be very safety oriented in the use of all machinery
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
