About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maximize sales within the assigned district through effective salesforce management and training
  • Ensure established sales goals are met or exceeded
  • Develop positive long-term customer relationships and ensure repetitive sales
  • Coordinate sales and service efforts to meet customer needs
  • Oversee all classifications of sales representatives within the assigned district
  • Provide ongoing assistance to the salesforce through direct sales involvement
  • Develop sales strategies and maximize salespeople’s effectiveness in the field
  • Meet or exceed the sales budget established by the VPGM
  • Establish annual objectives and required disciplinary actions for sales employees
  • Develop, monitor, and execute individual Salesperson Territory Business Plans
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and provide written follow-up letters
  • Conduct periodic sales meetings covering selling strategies, sales tools, product introductions, and performance
  • Participate in and take responsibility for selling strategies and activities for major jobs and accounts
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the New Salesperson 90-day training program
  • Directly supervise 7 to 16 Sales Department employees
  • Spend approximately 60% of the time in the field, with overnight travel varying by district size and branch locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A four (4) year college degree (Business or Marketing preferred)
  • Five years related sales experience
  • Previous material handling or loading dock equipment sales experience is very beneficial
  • Two years in a sales management capacity
  • Flexibility to interact with dock workers up to board room presentation
  • Strong mechanical/electronic comprehension
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional customer-oriented attitude, confidence and tact
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
