About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and grow the Berlin OTA team from a technical and architectural perspective
- Develop the team into an autonomous and self-sustaining chapter within the larger OTA organization
- Own development and testing of OTA features assigned to the Berlin chapter
- Collaborate with OTA engineering teams across Palo Alto, Irvine, and Belgrade to establish effective work distribution processes
- Collaborate with Volkswagen Group partners
- Contribute technically to the OTA system for at least 50% of working time
- Support Volkswagen Group directly in the joint effort to build a software-defined vehicle
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years in software development or integration, including 2+ years managing engineers
- Track record of leading technical teams within a highly cross-functional, international environment
- Proven ability to bring order to a complex product and stakeholder network technically, operationally, and organizationally
- Ability to reason across the full technology stack, from domain software to vehicle architecture
- Experience building software platforms for complex, distributed electromechanical systems in aerospace, automotive, defense, or robotics
- Experience with systems engineering and architectural development
- Experience establishing software development processes, test automation, and operational KPIs
- High-performance C++ and/or Rust applications for co-habitated POSIX systems
- Embedded software in C and/or Rust for real-time operating systems
- Experience developing test automation software in Python and Go
- Preferred: experience developing software infrastructure for Over-the-Air Updates on deployed products
- Preferred: experience with automotive diagnostic protocols UDS and SOVD
- Preferred: experience with automotive communication protocols CAN, LIN, FlexRay, ETH-UDP, and ISO-TP over ETH-TCP
- Ability to spend at least 50% of time contributing technically to the OTA system
- Authorization to work in the country where the role is based and ability to address employer sponsorship requirements
