About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Bring up and enable Wi-Fi on the next-generation platform through the Android Wi-Fi stack and validate behavior on bench and vehicle
  • Own connection-management logic for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, including SoftAP hosting, connection setup, retries, and timeouts
  • Own Wi-Fi network management, including IPv6 configuration, routing, iptables/firewall rules, and country-code transitions across regulatory domains
  • Design for RF constraints, including channel selection, DFS, concurrent APs, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth antenna sharing and coexistence
  • Isolate and resolve driver- and firmware-level issues with Wi-Fi silicon and module vendors by reproducing issues, analyzing logs and OTA traces, and validating fixes
  • Lead Wi-Fi Alliance certification readiness, coordinate with authorized test labs, and drive certification fixes
  • Support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto certification as the wireless subject-matter expert
  • Build validation and automation for projection sessions, throughput/RVR, reboot and OTA cycling, and nightly test coverage
  • Write design documents and reviews, mentor engineers, and raise organizational Wi-Fi expertise
  • Collaborate with platform, integration, infotainment, and certification teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of embedded software experience with substantial depth in Wi-Fi
  • Experience taking Wi-Fi features from bringup to production
  • Strong experience with the Android Wi-Fi stack, including Wi-Fi framework/APIs, wpa_supplicant, hostapd, and vendor HAL integration, or deep embedded Linux Wi-Fi experience with ability to learn Android quickly
  • Strong C/C++ skills
  • Working comfort with Java/Kotlin at the Android framework layer
  • Solid Linux networking fundamentals: IPv6, routing, iptables/netfilter, DHCP/DNS
  • Solid 802.11 protocol knowledge (n/ac/ax), including AP and station operation and WPA2/WPA3
  • Proven wireless debugging skills using OTA sniffer captures, framework and driver logs, and evidence-driven troubleshooting across the stack
  • Experience collaborating with Wi-Fi silicon or module vendors on issue resolution and feature enablement
  • Clear written communication and ability to lead technical work across teams
  • Direct experience with wireless Apple CarPlay and/or wireless Android Auto or similar Wi-Fi-based projection/streaming systems preferred
  • Experience with Qualcomm Wi-Fi solutions preferred
  • Wi-Fi Alliance certification experience preferred
  • Bluetooth/Wi-Fi coexistence and shared-antenna tuning experience preferred
  • Automotive or other regulated embedded-domain experience preferred
  • Wireless test automation experience preferred
