About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect and troubleshoot DC systems, combiner boxes, and string performance
- Perform module swaps and replacements according to site standards
- Diagnose and repair tracker system components, including gearboxes, actuators, drives, and motors
- Support corrective and preventative maintenance across PV systems and BOS equipment
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E safety standards
- Document work performed, service activity, and parts consumption using digital reporting systems
- Collaborate with peers, site leads, clients, and customers to ensure project success
- Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
- Support experienced technicians with troubleshooting tasks
- Participate in safety briefings and enforce LOTO procedures
- Communicate issues and solutions to leadership
- Adhere to and enforce company policies
- Coordinate with Inventory Control to ensure projects have required parts and consumables
- Respond to an on-call 24/7/365 rotation schedule
- Learn and apply mechanical, electrical, electronic, PLC, and hydraulic troubleshooting fundamentals
- Interface with equipment PLCs to program, analyze performance, and troubleshoot problems
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and problem-solve on renewable energy equipment
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2+ years’ experience in utility-scale solar PV, related electrical/mechanical field, related degree, or industry certificate course
- Knowledge of DC systems, PV modules, and tracker mechanisms
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and OEM manuals
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Preferred OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, or equivalent safety certifications
- Preferred NABCEP Associate or NCCER certification
- Familiarity with inverter troubleshooting and SCADA/monitoring systems
- Must reside or relocate within 1 hour of the project when possible
- Ability to participate and respond in an On-Call 24/7/365 rotation schedule
- Ability to use a meter and, after training, operate other needed electrical test equipment
- Ability to maintain safety training and Qualified Electrical Worker requirements
- Ability to learn mechanics, electricity, electronics, PLCs, and hydraulics
- Ability to interface with equipment PLCs to program, analyze performance, and troubleshoot problems
