About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary interface between Manufacturing, Engineering departments, and plants
  • Facilitate and execute Continuous Improvement (CI) projects
  • Integrate LEAN/CI approaches and lead cultural change
  • Implement lean product development, lean manufacturing principles, and process/product flow optimization
  • Provide DFx guidance to Design Engineering during new product design and development
  • Develop cost-effective tooling, fixtures, and test platforms
  • Support NPI production ramp efforts, production balancing between plants, and initiatives aligned with Rochester’s business strategy
  • Participate in product development reviews to ensure manufacturing engineering and operations readiness
  • Run kaizen events, rapid problem-solving exercises, and learning events
  • Drive factory yield improvements through data capture systems, process enhancements, design changes, and early design input
  • Execute and manage capital and noncapital projects, including cost reduction and transitions
  • Improve unit cost management, quality measures, productivity, escapes, and first-pass yields
  • Drive Built-in Quality deployment, reduction of quality escapes, and Cost of Quality
  • Support Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Provide data and justification for capital equipment needs, including process management and installation
  • Drive adherence to department budgets
  • Provide hands-on support for Annual Operating Plan targets, including On-Time Delivery, PPM, DPM, cycle-time reduction, first-pass yield, material and labor cost, supplier quality, scrap, rework, and supplier lead time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 7+ years of technical engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of engineering data management systems and engineering change order/process flows
  • Experienced with standard manufacturing software / equipment programming (LabView, PLC, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good oral and written business communication skills
  • Candidate must be located in the DFW area
  • Up to 10% travel may be required
  • Ability to perform the stated physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 pounds and exposure to heat/cold, heights, gases, vibration, dust, chemicals, odors, dampness, fumes, and noises
