About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Determine the validity of new bankruptcy filings
- Review loan payment histories, escrow and suspense accounts to prepare POC/MFR referrals to attorneys
- Quality-control and validate vendor-prepared POC/MFR referrals before sending them to counsel
- Monitor bar dates and response deadlines to ensure timely court filings
- Monitor vendor production and quality and provide daily directives for compliance with investor requirements and court deadlines
- Review cramdown terms for rebooking or objection
- Review PCN/PPFN filings for approval
- Determine correct bankruptcy payment application
- Resolve objections and work with attorneys to structure Agreed Order terms
- Set up payment plans on Agreed Orders, monitor compliance, and refer out for NODs
- Approve or deny attorney fee requests
- Complete docket event reviews and pencil ledgers for payment validation and loan-history accuracy during bankruptcy closing
- Guide vendors in reviewing and responding to attorney inquiries and personally handle escalated matters
- Use PACER, AACER, NDC, and Chapter 13 Trustee websites to analyze cases
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- One year of customer service experience required
- Intermediate knowledge of bankruptcy laws, FDCPA and CFPB guidelines
- Hands-on preparation, quality control/validation, and/or filing experience in 1–2 bankruptcy areas, including Proof of Claims, Motions for Relief, Payment Change Notice, Post Petition Fee Notice, Cram down Rebooking, and/or Case Closing
- Knowledge of mortgage industry practices, procedures and processes
- Ability to work with department deadlines
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer and software skills
- Exposure to mortgage-specific software
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
