About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape Rocketship’s next chapter by ensuring the exceptional talent and leadership needed to elevate its school model, accelerate student achievement, and grow its impact across the country
  • Report to the CEO and serve on the Network Executive Team
  • Lead Rocketship’s network talent strategy across Organizational Effectiveness, Employee Relations and Compliance, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Rewards, and Systems
  • Transform the Talent operating model by building systems, processes, tools, data, and accountabilities for consistent, data-driven Talent decisions
  • Build a high-performing Talent Acquisition engine focused initially on teachers and school leaders
  • Strengthen recruiting pipelines, selection practices, service levels, and hiring accountability
  • Improve manager effectiveness through clear expectations, coaching, development, feedback, performance differentiation, and addressing underperformance
  • Redesign and standardize the employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through development, performance, retention, and transitions
  • Improve teacher and school leader experience and engagement using eNPS feedback and data
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Talent organization with three direct reports
  • Partner with Regional Executive Directors and school leadership teams across California, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C.
  • Establish feedback loops using staff feedback and engagement data to improve experience and retention
  • Set network-wide Talent Acquisition and employer brand strategy
  • Develop scalable recruiting systems, workflows, service levels, and candidate assessment frameworks
  • Use workforce planning, talent analytics, dashboards, funnel reviews, HRIS, and Workday reporting to guide decisions
  • Oversee onboarding, promotion, performance improvement, separation decisions, employee relations, compliance, HR policies, compensation, and rewards strategies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 12-15 years of progressive Talent and Human Resources experience, including senior-level leadership of a Talent function within a complex, multi-site or multi-regional organization
  • Deep Talent Acquisition and workforce strategy experience, including transforming recruiting, talent pipelines, service levels, selection practices, and accountability for hiring outcomes
  • Experience in charter schools, education, or similarly complex organizations where attracting, developing, and retaining strong talent is critical to advancing organizational priorities and meeting regional and school needs
  • Experience building a high-performance culture and manager capacity through coaching, feedback, goal-setting, performance differentiation, and accountability for results
  • Skilled at building strong partnerships across organizational levels, navigating a matrixed environment, and aligning diverse stakeholders to raise standards and drive meaningful improvement
  • High data fluency, with experience using talent analytics, dashboards, and HR systems such as Workday
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to Rocketship’s regions and schools
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred
