About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Procure goods and services and support sourcing and purchasing needs for assigned stations/business units
- Create and evaluate quotations/bids and recommend suppliers for selection
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Negotiate and place purchase orders
- Review and coordinate technical, cost, and delivery requirements
- Resolve accounts payable and delivery issues
- Identify opportunities to leverage spend by category
- Implement sourcing and negotiation strategies to achieve savings targets
- Measure and track performance within defined spend categories
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships
- Participate in cross-functional sourcing teams
- Support supplier KPI execution and continuous improvement
- Process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials, delivery, or equipment
- Ensure warehouse personnel comply with Supply Chain policies and procedures
- Maintain optimum inventory levels while minimizing shortages and delays
- Respond to audits, surveys, and information requests
- Gather and analyze industry, economic, market, and spend data
- Support company Supplier Diversity initiatives
- Communicate sourcing decision impacts to management and employees
- Develop, negotiate, and administer supplier contracts
- Ensure compliance with company and Supply Chain policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline; applicable related experience may substitute for the degree requirement
- Partial credit may be given for Associate or technical degrees/certification
- Experience in the energy industry, especially electricity generation/retail
- 5+ years in sourcing, procurement, generation, or corporate functions
- 1+ years working with SAP applications
- Strong negotiation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Excel and Word
- Knowledge of negotiation and contracting processes
- Knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, and practices
- Knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code and business law
- Proficiency in computer applications and SAP or other ERP systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, communication, interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload independently
- Ability to make timely, fact-based decisions
- Ability to occasionally lift as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
