About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support development and maintenance of electrical system models for analysis and design maturation
- Develop, maintain, and quality check electrical datasets, including load schedules and cable schedules
- Perform electrical studies using agreed methods, assumptions, and tools
- Produce calculations, assumptions records, and technical outputs for engineering review
- Contribute evidence and analysis results to design reviews and design development
- Identify assumptions, limitations, and uncertainties within engineering studies
- Support concept evaluation and electrical architecture development
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to capture requirements and assess design options
- Support verification and substantiation across the electrical systems lifecycle
- Develop capability in electrical systems analysis and safety case evidence generation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in electrical engineering within a regulated or complex engineering environment
- Practical experience or exposure to electrical power system analysis
- Ability to develop and interpret electrical system models with appropriate technical guidance
- Experience supporting concept evaluation, design development or design substantiation activities
- Awareness of electrical distribution, protection, earthing, battery, and power generation systems
- Experience using engineering analysis tools and interpreting engineering outputs
- Understanding of systems engineering principles and requirements traceability
- Awareness of configuration control and technical assurance principles
- Ability to communicate technical information through reports, calculations, and presentations
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams and engage with stakeholders
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Applicants must obtain BPSS clearance
- Applicants must satisfactorily complete a DBS check
- Applicants must satisfactorily complete a basic financial probity check
- Previous nuclear industry experience is beneficial but not essential
