About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Manufacturing Engineering activity within a plant, facility or supply chain team
  • Act as Technical Authority for production-method capability and resolution of technical issues
  • Integrate Manufacturing Engineering activities across the product lifecycle and supply chain
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with Health, Safety & Environmental standards and Zero Harm expectations
  • Manage internal and external supply-chain relationships and provide coaching
  • Support global Manufacturing Engineering leadership, cross-Business collaboration, knowledge sharing and process development
  • Lead technical input into facility or supply-chain strategy and capital plans
  • Integrate Manufacturing Technology, Digital Manufacturing and Product Introduction activities
  • Govern Production Technical Packages, including technical instructions, programmes and tooling
  • Coordinate technical support to operations and suppliers
  • Approve production readiness of new manufacturing capabilities or methods
  • Develop real-time methods for capturing process capability
  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering community
  • Drive accountability and enablement through engagement and coaching
  • Govern Manufacturing Engineering deliverables, reporting status and resolving risks and issues
  • Manage load/capacity plans and budgets
  • Ensure product safety risks are understood and mitigated
  • Promote zero defects and Right First Time manufacture
  • Coach the community in RRPS, DMAIC and Systems Engineering tools
  • Ensure compliance with company, legislative and technical policies and standards
  • Identify and govern manufacturing-process improvements and innovations
  • Prioritise new projects based on business cases
  • Specify Manufacturing Engineering and process requirements and make technical decisions
  • Chair the Control Authority governing change

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience of Manufacturing Engineering processes, methods of manufacture and production capability
  • Experience of leading Manufacturing Engineering activity within a plant, facility or supply chain environment
  • Demonstrable experience of technical governance and decision-making within an area of accountability
  • Experience of working across the product lifecycle and through the supply chain
  • Strong understanding of product safety, quality and manufacturing process capability
  • Experience of leading teams, developing capability and coaching others within a technical environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external supply chains
  • Experience of acting as a Technical Authority or equivalent within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of Production Technical Packages, process readiness and manufacturing capability assessment
  • Knowledge and experience of RRPS, DMAIC and Systems Engineering tools
  • Experience of Manufacturing Technology, Digital Manufacturing and Product Introduction activities
  • Experience of managing Manufacturing Engineering load/capacity plans, budgets and project deliverables
  • Experience of working with Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders, Manufacturing Process Owners and suppliers to drive best practice and continuous improvement
