About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess patients' needs and develop personalized occupational therapy treatment plans
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social capabilities
- Implement therapeutic activities and interventions tailored to patient goals and progress
- Train patients and caregivers in adaptive equipment and daily-living strategies
- Modify home, work, and school environments to improve safety and accessibility
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Collaborate with physical therapists, speech therapists, physicians, and nurses
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques, goals, and expectations
- Stay current with best practices, licensing requirements, and continuing education
- Work across outpatient clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, or patients' homes
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ year(s) of clinical experience in a relevant setting
- Experience with specialized populations such as autism spectrum, stroke recovery, orthopedic rehabilitation, or geriatrics is a plus
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation systems
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current state license, or eligibility, to practice as an Occupational Therapist
- NBCOT certification
- CPR/BLS certification may be required depending on setting
- Ability to interact professionally with patients, client staff, and doctors
- Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and regularly push and pull
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment
