About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema
- Conduct pulmonary function screenings and comprehensive pulmonary function tests using spirometry equipment
- Provide patient instructions for pulmonary function test preparation and execution
- Educate patients on respiratory equipment, inhalers, nebulizers, and medications such as albuterol
- Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations
- Conduct pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic evaluations
- Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort; adjust therapies as necessary
- Collaborate with pulmonologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow respiratory therapy safety protocols
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Experience performing spirometry testing
- Must be available on occasional weekdays
- No weekend availability required
- Experience with spirometry equipment and pulmonary function testing
- Knowledge of respiratory equipment and medications
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- NBRC certification and/or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) certification preferred
- AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted
