About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform ultrasound diagnostic studies according to accepted protocols
- Conduct a wide range of scans, primarily in hospital and free-standing emergency-room environments
- Maintain a professional demeanor and respond promptly to work-related calls
- Contact assigned facilities with estimated arrival times and arrive within the prescribed timeframe
- Follow safety standards when operating equipment
- Maintain work areas according to client standards
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and files
- Document work processes as required
- Perform other assigned duties
- Assist with patient assessment, image acquisition, prioritization, communication with the care team, positioning, transfers, and mobility activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 1 year of ultrasound imaging experience post-graduation
- Current ARDMS certification – RDMS, ideally in Ab or OB
- Valid driver’s license
- BLS/CPR certification
- Professionalism and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Pass required hospital-employment health requirements, including drug screen and background check
- Comfortable performing general abdominal, general OB, and general vascular scans/procedures
- Ability to use mobile phone devices and applications
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
- Ability to act calmly and effectively in busy, stressful, or emergency situations
- Ability to communicate effectively in English in person, by phone, and in writing
- Adherence to policies and procedures, including safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance standards
- Ability to operate ultrasound equipment and maintain quality-control standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal to no supervision
- Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management, and peers
- Mental acuity, situational awareness, and decision-making ability for patient assessment, image acquisition, prioritization, and care-team communication
- Ability to safely lift and move 30 pounds independently and assist with patient positioning, transfer, and mobility
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, reposition patients, lift and carry equipment, push and pull medical equipment, and perform repetitive upper-extremity movements
- Continuous visual concentration and hand-eye coordination
- Physical endurance for multiple examinations throughout the workday
- Ability to safely maneuver around patients, beds, equipment, and obstacles
