About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support Rowan Design Managers and MEP engineering consultants in designing, permitting, and coordinating construction drawings for mechanical, plumbing, and controls disciplines
- Coordinate and ensure customer MEP engineering design requirements are evaluated and incorporated project by project
- Apply data center cooling strategies, including air-cooled and liquid-cooled solutions, to guide design and support customer requirements
- Provide on-site field support during construction as needed
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to address site-specific challenges and optimize designs for constructability
- Support third-party design engineers and consultants in preparing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and performance modeling
- Review contractor work, submittals, and RFIs as needed to ensure compliance with Rowan standards and project requirements
- Identify risks throughout the project lifecycle from site origination through operations
- Support other technical tasks as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; other related fields may be considered
- 3+ years of experience participating in data center or similar complex industrial MEP design
- Hands-on experience with construction activities in the field
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and Plumbing best practices, safety standards, and quality control procedures
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Procore, AutoDesk Forma, and Blue Beam Revu
- Knowledge of MEP design, control, communication, BMS/EMS, and construction practices and processes
- Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
- EIT and/or sustainable design accreditation preferred
- Familiarity with CFD software such as Star-CCM or SixSigma preferred
- Knowledge of data center industry and trends preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate and present ideas clearly and professionally, verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment
- Ability to work with little oversight and independently
- Ability to solve problems and apply innovative solutions
- Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
- Ability to travel up to 25% for company gatherings, meetings, or project sites
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of project management experience in the data center or real estate industry
