About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and manage cloud platforms to support ongoing projects
Create reliable systems and services through automation and Infrastructure-as-Code
Partner with development teams to improve workflows through rigorous testing and release procedures
Provide expertise on networks, security, and databases
Gather and analyse metrics from operating systems and applications to support performance tuning and fault finding
Work across software, infrastructure, and integration boundaries to automate, deploy, and improve complex systems
Exploit cloud technologies and toolchains to deliver secure, reliable information systems and machine learning services for Defence, Security, and Emergency sectors

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 3 years’ experience building/operating systems on cloud, virtualised, or on-prem infrastructure
Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience with a configuration management and automation tool such as Ansible
Ability to build and deploy versioned containers into a container orchestration service
Coding/scripting experience in at least one of Python, Golang, JavaScript, or Bash
Awareness of secure system design and best-practice frameworks such as NCSC Cloud Security Principles or equivalent
Ability to apply engineering thinking to improve reliability, security, and maintainability
Candidates must be eligible for SC clearance
Practical understanding of compute, networking, storage, and/or identity management is desirable
Experience managing multi-account or multi-tenant environments is desirable
Experience deploying and configuring observability tools and platforms is desirable
Familiarity with GitOps practices is desirable
Experience configuring and using Linux systems is desirable
