About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own day-to-day delivery of a complex systems integration programme against milestones, budgets, and outcomes
  • Own contract scope and manage the programme’s commercial landscape
  • Translate programme outcomes into delivery plans, workstreams, and outputs
  • Identify and communicate internal and external dependencies
  • Drive alignment across business, engineering, and third-party delivery teams
  • Anticipate delivery risks and issues and shape mitigation strategies
  • Establish and run programme governance, including steering forums, status reporting, RAID management, and decision tracking
  • Produce concise, decision-oriented reporting for senior stakeholders and sponsors
  • Maintain financial and delivery discipline across scope, cost, and timelines
  • Organise and mobilise senior stakeholders
  • Escalate issues, concerns, and risks appropriately
  • Act as a trusted delivery partner to sponsors
  • Bring structure to ambiguity and clarify requirements, ownership, and sequencing
  • Maintain momentum and challenge inertia in complex environments
  • Travel to customer sites and UK partners, potentially up to a couple of times a week
  • Undertake infrequent overseas travel as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Candidates must be eligible for SC clearance
  • Significant experience delivering complex technology or systems integration projects or programmes, preferably within Defence / NS
  • Demonstrable programme management capability beyond single-stream project delivery
  • Experience leading multi-year, multi-million pound projects / programmes
  • Experience operating within formal governance frameworks while enabling pace and pragmatism
  • Proven track record coordinating across multiple stakeholders, teams, and vendors
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplined technical teams including systems engineers, software engineers, infrastructure engineers, safety experts, and security experts
  • Experience with large-scale, complex systems design and integrations or digital platform transformations
  • Experience with data, cloud, or infrastructure modernisation or delivery projects/programmes
  • Experience with technology integration or business transformation initiatives in complex stakeholder environments
  • Experience in multi-vendor or outsourced procurement / delivery environments
  • Experience with complex multi-year / multi-million-pound projects / programmes within Defence or similar government-led organisations
  • Comfortable operating in environments where requirements evolve and adapt
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and ability to distil complexity into clear, actionable messages
  • Confidence engaging and influencing stakeholders and building strategic relationships
  • Comfortable operating autonomously and taking ownership of delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate issues
