About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply structural engineering principles and project management skills to carry out project tasks from start to finish
  • Work with the structural team to complete tasks
  • Understand reinforced concrete design drawings and specifications
  • Perform quality control checks and answer client RFIs
  • Resolve construction issues, especially those involving reinforced concrete
  • Learn and follow company design procedures for wind turbine foundations and contribute to improving them
  • Serve as engineer of record for structural engineering design projects
  • Review or delegate review of project-related design documents, including fabrication shop drawings
  • Model structures using finite element modeling for design
  • Review design codes and apply appropriate standards
  • Perform value engineering design analyses
  • Complete occasional project site visits to inspect construction quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. or M.S. (or M.E.) in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • 3-8 years of structural engineering design and/or project management experience (Other experience levels will be considered for otherwise highly qualified candidates)
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration in the United States required
  • Desire to obtain licensure in additional states, as needed
  • Familiarity with structural engineering codes in the United States, particularly reinforced concrete
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead or be part of a project team and communicate with clients directly
  • Ability to independently execute project work and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized to manage detailed project information and prioritize tasks
  • Interest in using structural design codes including IBC, ACI, ASCE 7, and AISC
  • Well versed in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Willingness to travel to project locations around the U.S. for short durations, typically one to two days per trip, at least a few times per year
  • Ability to walk on and inspect structural reinforcement
  • Ability to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States upon hire
