About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead integration and/or separation efforts from planning through execution
- Coordinate teams of professionals and services across all RSM practices
- Develop and grow a client network through business acumen, personal network, and complex delivery skills
- Manage client relationships and supervise multiple engagements
- Participate in onsite client projects
- Develop Deal Services and Integration and Separation Advisory services across the transaction lifecycle
- Support the growth and maturation of the practice and develop high-performing teams
- Evolve methodologies, tools, approaches, points of view, and thought leadership for the full-service M&A offering
- Develop business through internal and external channels and sell services across firm offerings
- Develop business connections supporting practice and firm strategic objectives
- Lead director- and manager-level engagement leaders in integration and separation engagements
- Act as a trusted advisor and provide direction on larger business objectives
- Lead client workshops for private equity and strategic corporate buyers
- Sell and structure pre-close planning, post-close planning, and Day 1 operational support engagements
- Provide management advice across functional business areas based on transaction scope, industry, and complexity
- Direct TSA evaluation, identify deal perimeters and gaps, evaluate pricing, structure services, and address operational needs
- Identify stranded costs and manage sell-side exit processes
- Support synergy assessment and synergy management through realization
- Manage engagements profitably and collaborate with complex delivery leads
- Develop and deliver annual firm and practice strategy with ISA and Deal Services leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10-12+ years of M&A and/or experience focused on mergers, acquisitions or separations within a professional services firm environment
- Broad expertise working with middle market businesses, including private equity, privately held or publicly traded companies
- Experience across a range of industries; industry alignment to private equity is a plus
- Preferred experience in TMT, Life Sciences, financial services, healthcare, or other demonstrated industry depth
- Strong understanding of complex program management and leadership
- Ability to travel 3-4 days per week for 40-45 weeks of the year
- Strong process and operating model development skills
- Strong financial capability to manage engagement financial outcomes
- Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business skills
- Strong writing, research, analytical, technical facilitation, and report writing skills
- Strong self-motivation in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment
- Bachelor's degree required
- Proven ability to hire, develop, grow, and lead professional teams
