About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist companies in identifying and measuring asset values through independent, well-supported valuations
  • Perform local, national, and international real estate market analysis for public and private entities using accepted valuation approaches
  • Gather engagement data through direct client interaction and interviews with brokers, appraisers, investors, developers, and asset managers
  • Review industry surveys, benchmarks, and economic and demographic trends
  • Assist with preparing and presenting analysis results, proposals, and executive presentations
  • Apply GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements to develop value conclusions for entities, assets, and liabilities
  • Work directly with clients, key decision makers, and business owners across industries and geographies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Real Estate Finance from an accredited college/university
  • 4–6 years of real estate valuation experience
  • Technical knowledge of real estate property as an investment class
  • Knowledge of discounted cash flow models and construction of capitalization rates
  • Familiarity with Argus financial models
  • Exposure to relevant real estate and valuation professional and regulatory issues
  • General knowledge of FASB fair value accounting standards (ASC 820)
  • Experience with purchase price allocation (ASC 805) and impairment analysis (ASC 360)
  • Ability to create strong working relationships within RSM and with clients and work independently
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to write clear, concise reports
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Preferably completion of the USPAP 15-hour course and familiarity with USPAP Standards 1 and 2
