About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL (PaaS), PostgreSQL, Neo4j, and MongoDB platforms
  • Perform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, security administration, capacity management, monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and routine health checks
  • Troubleshoot database incidents and service degradation and perform root-cause analysis
  • Maintain operational documentation and runbooks
  • Configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure Data Factory pipelines
  • Develop, modify, deploy, and support SSIS packages for integration, migration, transformation, and scheduled data-processing needs
  • Validate source-to-target mappings, dependencies, schedules, error handling, and operational support requirements
  • Partner with application developers, architects, infrastructure, security, and business technology teams to design and implement database solutions
  • Review database schemas, queries, indexes, execution plans, data models, and deployment scripts
  • Recommend improvements for reliability, scalability, maintainability, and performance
  • Participate in weekend or after-hours maintenance and production support
  • Perform rotational on-call duties, support disaster-recovery exercises, and assist with restoration and service-continuity activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 to 6 years of hands-on database administration experience
  • Strong administration skills for Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Practical experience administering or operationally supporting Neo4j and MongoDB
  • Experience supporting production databases for availability, performance, reliability, capacity, and incident resolution
  • Database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, security, monitoring, capacity planning, and high-availability support
  • SQL performance tuning, query analysis, indexing, troubleshooting, and system optimization
  • Ability to set up, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure Data Factory pipelines
  • Ability to develop, enhance, deploy, and support SSIS packages
  • Proficiency with T-SQL and familiarity with PostgreSQL SQL, PowerShell, or other automation/scripting tools
  • Knowledge of Azure data services, Azure DevOps or comparable source-control and deployment practices, and IT service-management processes
  • Experience with controlled production changes, patching, upgrades, disaster recovery, documentation, and rotational on-call support
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, prioritization, and process-improvement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and respond effectively to production incidents
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered
  • Microsoft, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Neo4j, or Azure data certifications are preferred but not required
