About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare complex tax returns
- Conduct detailed review and analysis of tax returns
- Interact directly with clients regarding questions, planning, and concerns
- Perform, document, and summarize research and conclusions regarding specific tax issues
- Develop, motivate, and train staff-level and intern team members
- Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
- Serve real estate owners, developers, investors, homebuilders, real estate opportunity funds, hotel companies, private equity firms, REITs, and brokerage companies
- Use AI and cutting-edge technology on domestic federal taxation issues
- Some travel may be required
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA/BS Degree, preferably in Accounting or related field of study
- Must be eligible to sit for the CPA exam or be a licensed JD
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a public accounting environment
- Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements
- Experience preparing and reviewing returns
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Master's of Accounting preferred
- CPA, JD, LLM, or EA preferred
- Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm preferred
- Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance preferred
- Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation; review experience a plus
- Experience dealing with international tax matters a plus
- RSM does not intend to hire entry level candidates who will require sponsorship now or in the future (i.e. F-1 visa holders)
