About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide analytical aftermarket support to maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services
- Perform ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, low-cycle fatigue life, and residual-life prediction using fracture mechanics
- Analyze stress and life changes after repairs and during in-service field investigations
- Participate in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions balancing performance, cost, schedule, and quality
- Develop and incorporate technologies and process improvements
- Write clear documentation and create technical presentations for internal and external customers
- Assist with the technical development of peers
- Manage increased workload and changing priorities using project management skills
- Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives using CORE tools and support AS9100D efforts
- Support structures community initiatives
- Perform other duties and functions as required by business needs
- Execute military and commercial repair designs and repair substantiations for engines
- Create and improve aftermarket and sustainment engineering business and repair-development tools
- Design, develop, and qualify military repair tooling
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering
- 2 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined in the posting
- English proficiency required for reading, writing, and speaking when communicating with English-only customers, co-workers, or supervisors
- Experience working in the aerospace industry preferred
- Previous gas turbine experience preferred
- Experience with ANSYS, APDL, Workbench, ABAQUS, PATRAN/NASTRAN, MATLAB, VBA, Python, C++, Fortran, MS Office, NX Teamcenter, and SAP preferred
