About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a critical interface between Raytheon, the U.S. Navy, defense contractors, and U.S. Government stakeholders
- Install, integrate, test, operate, maintain, repair, and modify AEGIS SPY-1 Radar Transmitter and MK 99 Fire Control Systems
- Travel to Naval shipyards in CONUS and OCONUS to support ORDALT installations and technical assistance
- Accept temporary at-sea assignments aboard U.S. Navy ships
- Operate, maintain, align, troubleshoot, and repair SPY-1 Radar Transmitter Equipment and MK99 FCS aboard AEGIS-class ships, land-based sites, and other designated locations
- Participate in planning and execution of shipboard equipment installations
- Analyze equipment failures, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Perform radar system modifications, including ORDALTs and CINs
- Conduct backplane, chassis wiring, and mechanical modifications to SPY radar and FCS hardware
- Prepare detailed equipment discrepancy reports with recommended solutions
- Provide guidance and hands-on training to Navy technicians
- Develop preventive maintenance programs and maintain performance and maintenance records
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and 0 years’ experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required before start date
- U.S. citizenship required
- Current Secret security clearance required on day 1
- Formal training in Basic Electronics & Electricity, including RF, digital, and analog principles
- Minimum 6 years of experience working with the AEGIS Weapon System
- Completion of Aegis “C” School for AEGIS SPY-1 Transmitter or AEGIS FCS Transmitters
- Experience interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience with electronics, radar systems, tools, test equipment, and cooling systems, including diagnostics and repairs
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks aboard Navy vessels
- Preferred: reside within a 50-mile radius of Norfolk
- Preferred: strong technical writing, interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Preferred: working knowledge of electrical multi-pin connectors and maintenance
- Preferred: understanding of RF principles, analog/digital circuitry, RF cable construction and repair
- Preferred: wire wrap and soldering skills and use of specialized and general hand tools
- Preferred: experience with Operational Readiness Test Systems (ORTS)
- Preferred: familiarity with U.S. Navy shipboard safety standards and shipyard operations
- Preferred: shipyard or dry-dock experience
- Preferred: prior international or overseas assignment experience
- Preferred: Electronics Technician Certification or equivalent military/technical school credential
