About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Contribute mechanical engineering expertise to mission-critical defense systems across radar, missile, and command-and-control platforms
  • Participate across the product lifecycle, from concept design and structural/thermal analysis to rapid prototyping, design verification testing, and factory support
  • Design, model, and document mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and major end items
  • Generate and maintain parametric 3D CAD models, complex assembly hierarchies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings
  • Validate design fit, form, and functionality through rapid prototyping, physical testing, and engineering simulations
  • Support factory operations, integration facilities, and external suppliers with product manufacturing, assembly, and integration
  • Participate in design peer reviews, resolve technical action items, and conduct trade studies
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, and other multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve mechanical hardware issues
  • Travel occasionally within the continental United States to customer sites or suppliers; international and longer-duration travel is optional

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline; degree must be obtained by start date
  • Experience utilizing parametric 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, or Siemens NX
  • Experience generating 3D solid models, mechanical assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings
  • Experience in mechanical design through coursework, academic research, engineering competition teams, or hands-on projects
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain an INTERIM U.S. government-issued security clearance required prior to start date
  • DoD Secret clearance
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from an ABET-accredited institution preferred
  • Knowledge or application of GD&T principles per ASME/ANSI Y14.5 preferred
  • Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping and mechanical fabrication preferred
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or machine shop equipment preferred
  • Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude applied to structural, thermal, or multidisciplinary hardware challenges preferred
