About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement FPGA-based designs for control and/or signal-processing radar applications
  • Provide development support throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept through acceptance delivery and maintenance
  • Own or contribute to successful FPGA-based designs, on time and on budget
  • Work with teams to determine technical approaches or solutions meeting system-level requirements
  • Lead small teams and mentor junior engineers as needed
  • Design and deliver production-quality FPGA releases from proof of concept through production
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineers and program management
  • Architect FPGA-based systems, determining parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements
  • Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability
  • Verify designs using self-checking techniques, directed and constrained-random tests, and functional and code coverage tracking
  • Create requirements, verification plans, and user guides
  • Support internal and external technical reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required after day 1
  • Demonstrated experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding
  • Experience designing and integrating with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera or Actel/Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs
  • Experience using synthesis tools: Synplify, Xilinx Vivado, or Intel Quartus Pro
  • Experience with Timing Closure and utilizing Chipscope / Signal Tap
  • Experience and knowledge developing requirements for FPGA products
  • Experience using RTL simulation tools such as Questasim
  • Experience in AMD/Xilinx MPSOC, RFSOC, Ultrascale+, Versal
  • Experience in Intel programmable devices Stratix X, Agilex
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as GbE, DDR, JESD, PCIE
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management principles, environments and tools
  • Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as RS-422, USB, PCIe, etc.
  • Experience with RADAR system hardware
  • Experience working in teams and ability to multi-task
  • Understanding of computer architecture and computer hardware optimization techniques
  • Proficiency in Linux
  • Working knowledge in the integration of software drivers for computer hardware interfaces is a plus
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and/or Shell/Perl/Python is a plus
  • Working knowledge/course work of signal and image processing, digital communications and/or control theories
  • Active DoD Security Clearance
