About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing standards, processes, work instructions, and related documentation
  • Align manufacturing standards with digital transformation initiatives, including MES, PLM, and digital work instruction platforms
  • Develop workforce capability models, skills matrices, certification criteria, and technical training processes
  • Evaluate manufacturing practices to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Provide technical expertise in modern manufacturing methods and digital tools
  • Implement standard processes, tooling strategies, and manufacturing capability improvements across sites
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Digital Technology, and other cross-functional partners
  • Drive consistency, readiness, and adoption of manufacturing standards across multiple Collins sites
  • Contribute to team planning, continuous improvement activities, and roadmap execution
  • Support technical leadership, mentorship, and learning across Advanced Operations Engineering and other organizations
  • Travel up to 20%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Experience developing or maintaining standard work, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, including assembly, machining, electronics, testing, or similar
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as ACE, Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • Experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred
  • Background supporting technical training, workforce development, or capability modeling preferred
  • Experience with DFM, PFMEA, control plans, and validation processes preferred
  • Experience supporting cross-functional standardization or modernization initiatives preferred
  • Experience supporting new equipment deployment preferred
  • Experience partnering with IT or Operational Technology for connectivity support preferred
  • Ability to support process improvements and operational readiness
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams across multiple sites
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Systems-thinking mindset and ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
