About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a key technical contributor to department-supported programs and products
- Design RF systems for challenging thermal and high-vibration environments
- Lead programs as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL)
- Liaise with programs to ensure technical, cost, and schedule success
- Oversee junior engineers’ job assignments and performance
- Apply electronics packaging design and manufacturing knowledge
- Perform or support thermal and structural design and analysis
- Work with electrical component design, construction, and failure modes
- Apply printed wiring board and circuit card assembly processes and best practices
- Work with surface-mount and through-hole component installation processes and failure modes
- Apply metal fabrication and finishing methods
- Design mechanical RF isolation
- Use environmental test methods and equipment
- Provide technical guidance and mentor matrix teams
- Make technical presentations and establish customer relationships
- Maintain positive relationships with functional and program leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience
- Experience with mechanical design, development and/or implementation of defense-related electronic systems
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with ASME drawing and documentation standards and procedures
- Minimum three years creating and documenting mechanical designs in Pro/Engineer/CREO or similar modeling tools
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
- Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required after day 1
