About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain platform architecture and modernization strategies for mission-critical radar and Command and/or Control systems
  • Develop and manage tools and frameworks for secure, automated build, test, and release processes using CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows
  • Collaborate with software developers, system engineers, and test teams to integrate application software into system platforms
  • Optimize platform performance, reliability, and scalability for defense programs
  • Maintain secure computing environments according to cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards
  • Lead system-level integration, troubleshooting, and debugging during development, testing, and operational phases
  • Improve platform automation and monitoring using Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes
  • Provide leadership in Agile Scrum/Kanban planning, estimation, and technical execution
  • Represent platform engineering in design reviews, customer meetings, and technical boards
  • Establish platform engineering standards and best practices to improve DevSecOps maturity, Infrastructure-as-Code adoption, and automation coverage
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Expertise in Linux platform engineering and administration
  • Experience architecting or leading mission-critical platform and DevSecOps environments for real-time systems
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and virtualization tools such as VMware/KVM
  • Experience with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and secure build/deployment architectures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Experience with network configuration, protocols, and troubleshooting tools preferred
  • Experience with large-scale, real-time systems, including radar or Command and Control systems or similar preferred
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools preferred
  • Experience with Grafana preferred
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence preferred
  • Experience with advanced performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting preferred
  • Experience in high-availability systems, distributed architectures, or high-performance computing environments preferred
  • Experience leading teams or mentoring engineers preferred
