About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive Project Engineering processes using integrated scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management
  • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Software Systems, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, Program Office, Production, and Quality to develop integrated execution plans
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements
  • Analyze trends, performance, resource costs, and forecasting reports
  • Monitor project progress across cost, schedule, and technical specifications
  • Conduct weekly project team meetings covering performance, status, open issues, and tasks
  • Identify and resolve execution problems and risks, and implement mitigations
  • Forecast project revenues, monitor costs, and re-estimate monthly project costs
  • Maintain and present plans, software development burndown, and progress reports
  • Balance multiple software development, hardware development, production, and sustainment projects
  • Work autonomously with limited managerial oversight
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions for field returns and production issues
  • Develop bids based on customer proposal requests
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines and improve project scheduling, monitoring, and reporting processes
  • Drive engineering execution while meeting internal and external customer expectations
  • Communicate directly with customers as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • BS or MS degree in Software, Software Systems, or Electrical Engineering, or an MBA degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience leading projects and teams within a highly matrixed organization preferred
  • Experience with the software design process/software design life cycle
  • Experience with controllers, circuit cards, digital control systems, and hardware
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily issues and longer-term projects
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring engineering staff
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with MS Project and software development tools
  • Ability to present to internal and external customers
  • Ability to bring team members together and resolve problems
  • Security clearance is not required
