About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review First Article Inspections for new or modified parts, assemblies, or materials
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Inspect parts for dimensional, material, and functional conformance
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues in FAIR reports
  • Communicate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and non-conformities
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9102, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Train and mentor team members on FAI procedures and best practices
  • Identify and implement FAI process improvements
  • Support digital solutions and automated data analytics deployment
  • Manage moderately sized projects or processes as needed
  • Coordinate with the supplier FAI Center of Excellence team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
  • Travel up to 30% to suppliers and Collins locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or minimum 3 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience in quality control, inspection, or related fields
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Experience with First Article Inspection requirements such as AS9102 and PPAP is preferred
  • Experience with special process assessments and audits, including NDT, heat treating, welding, brazing, plating, and chemical processing specifications is preferred
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and Net-Inspect is preferred
  • Experience with quality management systems and ERP systems is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is preferred
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data for decision-making
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration
