About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with manufacturing sites, maintenance teams, engineering organizations, equipment suppliers and technical experts to improve equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness
- Develop and improve equipment maintenance and reliability strategies across manufacturing sites
- Analyze equipment performance and maintenance data to identify bad actors, recurring failures and improvement opportunities
- Use maintenance downtime, MTBF, MTTR, repeat failures, PM performance and maintenance history to prioritize improvements
- Perform and facilitate root cause analysis for significant and recurring equipment failures and help develop corrective actions
- Apply FMEA, equipment criticality and reliability-centered maintenance principles to evaluate risks and maintenance requirements
- Review preventive maintenance programs and improve task content, frequencies and effectiveness
- Identify opportunities to transition time-based preventive maintenance to condition-based and predictive maintenance
- Improve connections between equipment failure modes and maintenance tasks
- Support maintenance planning, scheduling, backlog management, work-order quality, job plans and failure coding using SAP or other CMMS/EAM systems
- Improve maintenance and reliability data quality and support common standards across manufacturing sites
- Participate in site maintenance assessments and identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- Support predictive maintenance and asset-health initiatives, including vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound and oil analysis
- Partner with OEE and Industrial Engineering teams to translate equipment availability losses into improvement opportunities
- Provide maintenance and reliability input for new and modified equipment and participate in design and maintainability reviews
- Work with OEM technical and service organizations on troubleshooting, equipment repair, failure analysis and reliability improvement
- Evaluate OEM and third-party maintenance provider technical performance
- Document lessons learned and share successful practices across sites
- Travel up to 50%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or another relevant technical discipline and 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, industrial maintenance, equipment reliability or a related technical field OR a Master's degree in engineering and 3 or more years of prior relevant experience
- Experience working with industrial/manufacturing equipment and troubleshooting equipment problems
- Experience participating in or facilitating root cause analysis and structured problem solving
- Experience analyzing equipment and maintenance data and identifying trends and recurring problems
- Working knowledge of equipment reliability principles and maintenance work-management fundamentals, including work orders, preventive maintenance, planning, scheduling and backlog management
- Experience working with a CMMS/EAM system
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Preferred: Experience with SAP PM/EAM
- Preferred: Familiarity with FMEA, RCM, asset criticality or PM optimization
- Preferred: Experience analyzing MTBF, MTTR, equipment downtime or other reliability metrics
- Preferred: Exposure to predictive or condition-based maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound or oil analysis
- Preferred: Experience with automated or complex manufacturing equipment
- Preferred: Experience working with OEMs or third-party equipment-service providers
- Preferred: Exposure to maintenance planning and scheduling or maintenance work-management improvement
- Preferred: Understanding of OEE and equipment availability
- Preferred: Experience participating in equipment installation, commissioning or capital-equipment projects
- Preferred: Familiarity with equipment maintainability, spare-parts requirements or maintenance-readiness reviews
- Preferred: Reliability or maintenance training/certification, or interest in pursuing certifications such as CMRP or predictive-maintenance certifications
