About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support mechanical design execution, cross-functional engineering activities, technical problem-solving, and delivery of engineering commitments
- Execute mechanical design activities and medium-scale engineering projects
- Coordinate cross-functional tasks to meet scope, schedule, budget, and technical requirements
- Perform mechanical design analyses to ensure hardware meets form, fit, and function requirements
- Evaluate product improvements and support Class II Engineering Changes
- Resolve manufacturing, assembly, engine build, teardown, and MRO-related technical issues
- Participate in design reviews, trade studies, and technical problem-solving activities
- Communicate program status, technical risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership
- Support continuous improvement through standard work, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and data-driven engineering practices
- Provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers
- Collaborate with CIPT, IPMT, SIPT, Chief Engineers, customers, operations, quality, supply chain, and suppliers
Requirements
What you’ll need- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant design experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant design experience
- Relevant experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, gas turbine, manufacturing, or a related engineering environment
- Experience performing mechanical design analysis
- Experience evaluating form, fit, and function requirements
- Experience with gas turbine engine hardware, mechanical systems, or aerospace propulsion components preferred
- Skilled with 3D solid modeling and mechanical engineering analysis tools preferred
- Experience with Class II Engineering Changes, RCCA, design reviews, trade studies, engine builds/teardowns, or MRO activities preferred
- Ability to collaborate with IPTs, CIPTs, IPMTs, SIPTs, Chief Engineers, customers, suppliers, operations, and quality organizations
- Ability to provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers and contribute to process improvement and standard work
- Willingness/ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally
