About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using Ansible across VMware vCenter, bare metal, and cloud environments
Automate VM provisioning, template management, network configuration, storage allocation, PXE boot, hardware configuration, BIOS/firmware management, and OS deployment
Design reusable, modular Ansible roles and collections for consistent deployment patterns
Write custom Ansible modules, plugins, and filters using Python
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for testing, validating, and deploying automation code
Integrate automation with Git, secrets management, monitoring platforms, and enterprise systems through RESTful APIs
Create runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
Monitor automation execution, troubleshoot failures, and improve reliability and performance
Participate in an on-call rotation for critical automation infrastructure support
Track and report automation metrics such as deployment frequency, success rates, and time savings
Support the ROCKS Kubernetes-based container management platform for classified and unclassified deployments

Requirements

What you’ll need

University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience
U.S. citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required after day 1
Experience with Ansible execution environments and containerized automation
Programming and scripting experience
Active Directory and Group Policy automation
Linux system administration; RHEL/CentOS preferred
Windows Server administration, especially Windows Server 2019/2022
Network and storage configuration experience preferred
VMware vSphere/vCenter administration and automation preferred
Advanced PowerShell scripting capabilities, including 2+ years and Desired State Configuration (DSC), preferred
Python development skills, including 3+ years and REST API development/consumption, preferred
Bare metal provisioning experience, including PXE, Kickstart/Preseed, and hardware management, preferred
Understanding of operating system security principles, hardening techniques, and compliance frameworks preferred
Experience with system internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting preferred
Experience working with YAML, JSON, and INI configuration files preferred
4+ years of hands-on Ansible experience preferred
Deep understanding of Ansible architecture, including playbooks, roles, collections, inventories, and vault preferred
Experience developing custom Ansible modules, plugins, callbacks, and filters preferred
Proficiency with Ansible Galaxy and creating/publishing reusable collections preferred
Strong knowledge of Jinja2 templating and YAML best practices preferred
